Is the casino part of the fare?
No. The fare covers cabin, meals as per fare and the cruise line's onboard programme. Stakes in the casino go exclusively through the onboard cashier. We arrange neither gaming credit nor bonuses.
Who may enter the casino on board?
Adults from 18 with ID; on ships from US ports partly from 21. The cruise itself can be booked for all ages, families are welcome – the salon remains reserved for adults.
When is the salon open?
On the open sea, outside territorial waters; in port it is closed. The cruise line sets the exact times and prints them in the daily programme. More sea days mean longer opening hours.
Which currency is used?
Usually EUR or USD through the onboard cashier or the cruise card. The cashier explains exchange rates and fees. Our advice: set a budget before the trip and take only that.
Does my Swiss exclusion order apply on board?
Not automatically, because the ship's casino is not subject to the Swiss Gambling Act. Anyone excluded should avoid the salon. Let us know – we then advise you without any casino reference.
How do I get to the port?
For Genoa, Civitavecchia and Venice by rail from Zurich HB, Basel SBB, Bern or Lugano; we reserve seats and put the connection in the quote. To Athens, Lisbon and Hamburg there are direct flights from Zurich; to Hamburg also the ICE from Basel or the night train from Zurich.
Are prices in CHF and is my money protected?
Yes. We quote in CHF including port taxes and gratuities. Payments are protected under the Package Travel Act (Art. 18) through customer money protection; you receive the security certificate with the booking confirmation.
Is a request already a booking?
No. Request and quote are non-binding and free. A booking is made only when you confirm the quote in writing. The cruise line's travel terms and our terms then apply.
Can I travel with children?
Yes. Many ships have kids' clubs and family cabins. The salon is off limits to children; the evening programme for families is therefore something we discuss with you when choosing the ship.
Do you also advise in French or Italian?
Yes, in German, French, Italian and English. The onboard language depends on the cruise line; German and Italian are spoken on many Mediterranean ships.
Do I have to pay tax on casino winnings?
Winnings from gambling abroad may be subject to income tax in Switzerland. We do not give tax advice – ask the cantonal tax administration or a professional.
